Do you snore or grind your teeth loudly while you sleep? If so, you may have bruxism. Bruxism is a disorder in which you heavily grind your teeth while you sleep, and it can cause many problems. Unfortunately, most of us aren’t aware of the grinding because we are, well, asleep. This can be frustrating and can make it difficult to diagnose. However, the symptoms you display when you wake up could also be an indicator.

Damaged teeth, damaged dental restorations, and headaches may all be indicators of bruxism. Damage to the inside of your cheeks and teeth beginning to look flat and dull are also indicators of bruxism. Be aware of these signs and symptoms, and don’t be afraid to call and talk to our team at Foreversmile Dentistry.

A related issue to bruxism is temporomandibular joint disorder. With TMJ disorder, you may often wake up with a sore jaw, have increased tooth sensitivity, or you may have trouble fully opening and closing your mouth when you wake up.

Speak with Dr. Marilyn Amaral for a possible diagnosis and personalized treatment options as soon as possible.
